Renovated Locker Rooms
Next on our plan is a new path for the 13th tee and the 11th tee and an improvement to the surface of the old path between tee and green on 3rd, all on the Tower course. We will also improve the drainage around the 11th tee on Cathedral course. Finally we plan to move (slightly) the right-hand greenside bunker on the tower course to improve the traffic route.
There have been lots of charity events at the Club recently and I would like to thank all of you who supported them in addition to all the support you give to the captain’s charities.
Congratulation to Chichester for winning the Haygarth Trophy.
Enjoy the dry weather!

From the Academy.......
We have had a very busy time over the summer at the academy improving lots of golfer’s games and the feedback has been extremely positive, so many thanks to you all.
Myself and Iain have settled in really well and the support from the members, team and the general public has been very gratefully received.
The ‘Get into Golf’ programme has been really successful this year and new courses for beginners will run throughout the autumn and winter period. If you know of anyone, friends or family that would like an introduction to the game of golf then please feel free to pass our details on. The dates and times of new courses can be found here
As we move into the autumn period, I think this is the perfect time to start working on your golf. With the gift of hindsight it is the best time to reflect on your past season and to contemplate areas of your game that you would like to improve for the 2017 season. Myself and Iain are still running the £19.99 player evaluations and are keen to help you improve your golf over the autumn/winter period. Please contact us or approach us on the driving range or in and around the club if you have any questions.
MONTLY GOLF TIP
If you’re a golfer that hits a slice then this video tip is going to help massively. A slice shot not only loses you golf balls it also costs you quite a lot of distance as well. Here is a great video tip to help you fix the dreaded slice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR6K9UCMAFM
Looking forward to helping more of you to enjoy this wonderful game,

From the course.......
Well doesn’t time fly by!!
The greens renovation work we carried out on both courses has all gone well. This consisted of us using our garden machine to pull out thatch followed by a couple of topdressings. These were then brushed in and rolled by our greens roller to smooth the surface which has all worked extremely well with great results and has now fully recovered.
As some of you may have seen we have been busy using our new leaf blower which we have purchased as well as continuing to do our usual cutting work which has not really slowed down!
The fairways are in fine form at the moment with lots of grass cover which is great for protecting the fairways for the coming winter. You will also see us out soon on the verti drain which is an excellent tool for decompacting the fairways after a hard summer’s use. This is a necessary job as the tine holes created by the verti drain allow water to flow through the ground and also the roots of the grass will use these holes to grow in.
As you may have seen we have been busy creating some new pathways on the Tower course, we will be continuing with this as well as upgrading some older ones. Also during the winter period we will be continuing to do our usual tree pruning and next week we will be starting to slit the greens on both courses.

Recent Charity Events
A fantastic event was held on Thursday 22nd September at Chichester Golf Club, 72 golfers played in a shotgun start competition on the Cathedral course in the beautiful sunshine with lots of laughter and the odd beer!
Refreshments were served in the marquee whilst raffle tickets were purchased, prizes were given and guests were able to bid in a mind blowing auction.
Fiona Marley who organised the day raised a staggering £8,000 for Cancer Research.
We were also pleased to welcome Just Different on Friday 30th September 2016 for a charity footgolf event. This fantastic charity creates positive social attitudes towards disability and difference among children and young people.
They kicked off the event with over 10 teams competing in a 9 hole competition and were then joined by friends and family for a superb pizza buffet in the Jungle Java Cafe afterwards.
They raised £2355 on the day and had such a great time they have booked for next year!
Also, an 11 year old boy named Ryan Garnett approached us to organise his own charity event for a school project, he played 36 holes of golf on Saturday 1st October in wind and rain and raised an incredible £483.00. He very kindly gave all this money to our Men’s Captain’s Charity which is Cancer Research, a fantastic achievement from this enthusiastic young man.
A massive thank you to all our members for their support and generosity in making these events memorable.
